21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
22 In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the LORD will reward you
Loving your enemy is a powerful thing. Repaying malice with good deeds can be torture for an enemy. Honestly, it is easier to be mean or seek revenge by doing bad or worse things to them. Through the strength that comes from prayer, we can and should offer goodness to or enemies. I find that it is much easier to do this if I pray blessings for the person. This doesn’t really work if you pray a half-hearted prayer, either. You have to pray hard, as if you were praying for yourself or a loved one. In doing this, God’s love will give you the ability to be sincerely good to your enemies. There is a blessing in doing this, and there is no blessing in being rotten back.

The thing that makes it difficult for Christians in verse 7 of this passage is that they are leaving out the most important part of the verse where it said submit yourself unto the Lord. Before anyone can resist the devil they first have to learn what it is to resist the devil. You can resist all you want to but until you submit to God the devil is not going any where.
